I came across this tasty Bharli mircha from maayeka blogspot . i tried it last weekend along with dry aloo palak sabji and my hubby just loved it .You can make this as a side dish .I made it using leftover ompudi (yellow shev) along with certain spices as suggested by anjana ji . So do try this easy and delicious bharli mircha.
For a more quick version - Just add some oil, salt and lemon juice in the ground bikaneri sev and fill in the chilies and stir fry
Stuffed green chillis tasted spicy and hot as the weather outside was also a bit chilled .
Ingredients-
Green Chilies | hirwi mirchi used for pakoda - 8-10
Ompudi (yellow shev) - 1/4 cup or gram flour (besan)
Fennel Seeds - 1.5 tbsp
Carom Seeds (Owa /Ajwain) - 1/4 tsp
Turmeric - 1/2 tsp
Coriander Powder - 2 tbsp
Amchur (mango )Powder or Lemon Juice - 2 tbsp
Salt - 1tsp
Asafoetida - 1/4 tsp
Refined Oil - 4.5 tbsp
Mustard Seeds - 1/2 tsp
Method:
1.Grind yellow sev to make a fine powder.Coarsely grind fennel seeds and carom seeds.
2 Take a bowl add sev powder,fennel and carom powder,coriander powder, turmeric powder,mango powder and salt.
3.Mix well and add 2 tbsp of refined oil and mix properly.
4. Wash and wipe green chilies and make a slit at one side.remove seeds this will help to reduce the hotness of chilli.
5. Stuff this mixture in the chilies and keep aside.
6. Heat 2.5 tbsp refined oil in a pan and add mustard seeds and asafoetida .
7. When seeds start crackling add the stuffed green chilies .Mix gently and cover and cook on low flame for 1-2 minutes.
8. Stir in between to avoid burning. When the chilies become slightly soft, switch off the flame and keep covered for a minute.
9. Serve as side dish .
Tips:
You can even use roasted besan (chickpea flour) instead of shev
