Simple plain pulao |Basic biryani style hyderabadi pulav

 
This is pulao in its simplest form which is made using whole garam masala & potato & onion which is easily available in your kitchen .Dont forget to use basmati rice for that special aroma & long grain rice.

I hot this recipe from my aunts diary .This can go well with dal makhani , butter chicken , chicken masala , chole or any spicy gravy .








Ingredients
1 cup basmati rice
2 tbsp ghee
4-5 pepper( kali miri)
2-3 lavang ( cloves)
1 tsp shahijeera
1 bayleaf (tamalpatra)
2 badi elaichi(black cardamom)
1 inch dalchini (cinamom)
1 1/2 cup water
1 small  potato
1  small  onion
10-12 cashewnuts
1 tsp charoli (bedana)
1 tsp sugar
salt as




Method :

1 Soak rice for 30 minutes in water & keep aside.

2. Fry cashews,charoli (bedana) till golden brown.
 
3.Cut potato into long chips (like mac donalds potato french fries ) & onion into thin slices  like we do for onion pakoda  & fry them in ghee /oil till golden brown



4. Heat ghee  in a kadhai /pan ,once hot add  shahijeere,pepper( kali miri),lavang ( cloves),bayleaf (tamalpatra),badi elaichi(black cardamom),dalchini (cinamom).

5.Next add rice  & saute for 2 minutes & add boiling water salt & sugar Allow the rice to boil.Once water is reduced & rice is 80 percent done keep a lid on the kadhai & allow it to cook on slow flame till done.Keep checking or else the rice might get burnt.



6. Garnish pulao with fried  cashews,charoli,potato & browned onions (birista) & coriander & serve with any spicy veg /non veg curry

7. You can even mix orange liquid  food colour to some part of rice after step 5 & then Garnish pulao with fried  cashews,charoli,potato & browned onions (birista) & coriander & serve

Mutter ka jhol
