Dosa's and Idli's form the comfort breakfast menu for most of us .
Its also a healthy breakfast & a type of full meal in which you consume rice & dals in one shot.I always keep on hunting for various dosa varieties & I came across this recipe on the chef & her recipes blogspot.I made slight addition to the original recipe & tried making dosas which came out really crispy just like hotel style paper dosa .
I also tried making cheese chilli dosa from same batter which was really yummy .your kids will surely love it .With leftover batter you can prepare various other dishes like idlis, Masala dosa,Utappam,appe etc.
Ingredients:
4 cups rice (i used sona masoori)
1 Cup Urad dal
1 cup Poha
2 tbsp chana dal
2 tbsp Curd
1/2 tsp methi seeds
handful of cooked rice
salt
Method:
1.Soak urad dal in a bowl and rice ,chana dal, poha , methi together in another bowl for 5-6 hrs or overnight.
Grind the urad separately next grind chana dal, rice, poha,methi mixture until very smooth adding less water,now add cooked rice,salt,dahi and grind it again to a very fine mixture.Ferment it for 9-10 hrs or overnight.
3.Prepare Dosa's.Pls click here for dosa making method.Once dosa is done you can fold it into half ,triangular shape like hotel,fold from both sides to centre as we do for masala dosa.
4.Serve hot with sambhar /coriander Coconut Chutney/peanut Chutney/mango chutney /Tomato Chutney/red chilli chutni.
Tip:
1.Add a little sugar while grinding for better fermentation of batter.
2.While pouring batter flame should be low once dosa is spread keep on medium flame first and then turn it to high flame for crispier dosa's
3.Add more water to make it into the required consistency dosa batter(than require for Idli's)
