I am sure everyone must have tasted french fries at mac donalds restaurant .
But did you know you can enjoy the same french fries /potato chips (sali) that too in a jiffy in your home.
French fries tastes best when eaten hot & can be served with tomato sauce or mayoneisse or cheese spread. They are enjoyed by every age group from kids to elders .
You can eat them plain or can sprinkle some Chilli flakes / red chilli powder / pepper powder /italian seasoning on the french fries .Me and my cousin brother would make these potato wedges during my engineering college days especially in the afternoon to enjoy them with tea .
You can even make this dish as a fasting recipe during navratri ,in that case use black salt instead of normal salt .
Today suddenly I had the mood of preparing them again after a long period & so thought of posting this classic ,tasty,quick & easy recipe
Ingredients
1 medium potato
Chilli flakes / red chilli powder - 1 tsp (optional)
Salt as needed
oil for frying
Tomato sauce
Method :
1. Peel potato with grater & cut potato into medium sized chips as shown below & keep it immersed in a bowl of cold water.
2. let the potatoes remain in water for atleast an hour .change the water twice .
3. After an hour drain the potato chips on a towel so that they get dried.
4. Now heat oil in a kadhai & add potato chips & fry them on a medium high flame till they turn golden brown from both sides.
5. drain on a tissue paper to remove excess oil . For best results ie for getting more crispier fries fry them in oil twice.
6.Serve french fries hot with tomato sauce .
Tip:
You can sprinkle italian seasoning / pepper powder / oregano on the fries as per your choice.
