upwas ratala (shakarkand) lollipop | vrat Sweet potato candy


I had seen this in one of the episodes of amhi sare khavvaye .A good & attractive option during fast (vrat) days .





It can be made from boiled arvi / sooran /boiled potato .

Ingredients:
2 medium ratala (Sweet potato)
2-3 tbsp sabudana flour/rajgira flour / upwas bhajani flour
1/2 cup peanut powder
1 tsp jeera (cumin) powder
2 green chillies paste
Salt as needed
1/2 cup soaked sabudana (sago)
potato wedges
Oil to fry




Method:

1.Boil  sweet potato (ratala) ,remove  skin & smash it .



2.Next add salt,peanut powder,sabudana flour/rajgira flour / upwas bhajani flour,sugar & mirchi paste .



3. Shape it in the form of  candy or lollipop .



4. Next  roll it in soaked sabudana & press slightly so that sago sticks to the lolipop.




5. Insert  a potato wedge at the base of  the lollipop as shown in picture.







6.Deep fry in oil till golden brown  on both sides.be careful while frying as it can break .

If lollipop breaks in oil then add little sabudana flour/rajgira flour / upwas bhajani flour  & then roll it agin & deep fry in oil .
 

 

 
 




 

 
6. Serve with upwas khobra chutney / upwas dahi chutney .
