Punjabi Chole recipe |Cholay with home made chole masala powder



Chole Bhatura is one of my favorite dish. There are  many ways of making punjabi chole…. I have  already have posted the punjabi chole recipe Of kadhai chole & amritsari chole . Both punjabi chole and punjabi chana are same. The difference with todays chana masala was i didnt use tea bags for brown colour , & i made it using home made chole masala .for recipe of home made chole masala click here.

Ingredients:

1 and half cup chickpeas (Garbanzo Beans/ Kabuli Chana/chole )
2 medium sized onions chopped
3 medium sized tomatoes chopped
1 tsp ginger garlic paste
1/2 tsp garam masala
2 tsp home made  chole masala (recipe click here)
1 tsp chilly powder
1 tsp amchur powder/dry mango powder /chat masala
2 slit green chillies
1 tbsp oil
salt

Method
1.Wash and soak the chickpeas in enough water overnight.
2.Add enough amount of water as the chickpeas increase in size after soaking it.
 3.In a pressure cooker add the chickpeas, enough water, salt and pressure cook for 8-9 whistles till the  chickpeas  are really soft
 4.In a kadhai add oil. Once the oil becomes hot, add the chopped onions & saute till they become transparent.Now add the  green chillies ,ginger garlic paste paste.Once the raw smell of the ginger garlic paste  disappears, then add the chopped tomatoes.
5.Add the home made chole masala,garam masala ,red chilli powder to the onion-ginger-tomato mixture. Saute for a minute.
6.Now add the boiled chickpeas with a little quantity of its stock. add stock as per the quantity of gravy required.
7.Smash few chickpeas with spoon & add them to the gravy this will help to thicken gravy
8.Simmer for 5-7 minutes.
9. Finally, add the amchur powder & chat masala
10.Garnish with chopped onions and cilantro leaves.



16.Serve the punjabi chole with kulchas, bhaturas, pooris, rotis, along with sliced onions and lime. Its tastes good with rice too.
