GHEE PODI IDLI RECIPE | SOUTH INDIAN IDLI WITH MILAGAI PODI

Idli's are my favourite food - plain or soaked in Sambhar. There are various accompaniments to this simple and basic staple. One more favourite is the Idli Milagai Podi or simply GHEE  PODI IDLI '. Steaming hot Idli's and Podi with either Gingelly oil or Ghee - droolworthy. I tasted this ghee podi idlis in my husbands wipro canteen in a shop called as MR & MRS IDLI last year in december 2011.Now i prepare this on sundays for breakfast / brunch.



Ingredients:
Idli Batter
Milagai Podi(Pls click on Milagai Podi preparation process  for podi recipe )
1 cup ghee





Method:
1.Take idli batter in a bowl .Pls click on IDLI BATTER PREPARATION PROCESS  for idli batter recipe  .
2. Grease the idli stand plates  / tray with ghee / oil.



3.Pour idli  batter in idli plates.  Fix the idli stand with all trays.




4. Add 2 big glass of water in presuure cooker & place idli maker stand in cooker & place cooker lid without weight  on cooker.

5.Steam for 15-20 minutes on a high flame.Switch off gas after 20 minutes.

6.Allow cooker to rest for 10 minutes. Remove lid & with the help of spoon remove the idlis from the tray & place in a plate.

7.Melt the ghee in  a pan till it becomes liquid.

8. Take one idli .Sprinkle Podi on top.

9. Next drizzle a generous amount of ghee on top of idli & serve hot with  coconut chutney /sambhar.



10 Ghee podi idli is so delicious that you can eat it even without chutney
