Chana dal wada | Crispy Masala vada recipe



One can find this snack in any tea stall all over south india.This is a very easy and simple south indian snack which can be made with the basic ingredients at home.This goes well in lunch or snack or even breakfast.











Ingredients:
1 cup yellow gram (chana) dal
1 onion finely chopped
1 cup coriander finely chopped
4-5 green chillies finely chopped
1 tsp. cumin seeds
1 tbsp ginger chopped
salt
oil for deep fry





Method:

 
1.Wash and soak dal for 3-4 hours.Keep 1 tbsp. dal aside, grind the rest,coarsely.

2.Mix all other ingredients, including whole dal.


 


3.Add 1 tbsp. hot oil to the mixture.

4.Take a small portion of the mixture and pat it into a round shaped vada on a greased palm (greased plastic sheet
work best for this) and deep fry in oil until golden in colour.








5.Let carefully into the hot oil.




6.Fry first one side then the other till golden brown.

7.Serve hot with green chutney, tamarind chutney, or ketchup
