Green peas dhokla, easy and delicious dhoklas that are made nutritious by the addition of green peas, which are full of fibre and also impart a nice green colour. Besan is a versatile ingredient that is used to make most farsaans.
Green peas Dhokla is a healthy green version of popular traditional gujarati Dhokla.This dhokla serves as a complete meal itself.
Instead of using besan you can even soak half cup each of urad dal,chana dal & rice flour overnight .,grind batter in morning & leave aside the batter to ferment near gas stove for 6-7 hrs & make dhokla in evening.If making dhokla by this second method follow the same below mentioned recipe only dont use besan & sooji as we are using mixed dal batter instead of besan
Here's a delicious, tempting ,nutritious recipe that can be made instantly to please your kids or your guests.
Ingredients:
Besan - 1 cup
Sooji - 1/2 cup
Green peas - 1 cup
Salt as per taste
Sugar - 1 tbsp
Lemon Juice- 2 tbsp
Ginger -1 inch
green chili- 3-4
Handful - Coriander leaves (kothimbir) or spinach (palak)
Fruit salt - 1/2 tsp
For seasoning
Oil - 2 tbsp
Curry leaves - 8-10 leaves
Mustard seeds - 2 tsp
Grated Coconut - 1 tbsp
Red/green Chili - 2 nos finely chopped
Coriander 2 springs finely chopped
Method:
1.Grind green peas,coriander /palak ,ginger , chili into a fine thin paste in a mixer. Add little water if required.

2.In a large mixing bowl mix besan, sooji, ,lemon juice, sugar, salt, green peas ,coriander ginger chili paste and prepare a thick batter. Add about 1/2 cup water to adjust consistency of batter.

3.Take half batter in another bowl and add fruit salt. mix well. Pour this batter in presuure cooker container which is greased with oil .
4.Now add 2 glass of water in pressure Cooker ,when water starts boiling place presuure cooker container & place cooker lid without whistle .steam dhokla for 15-20 minutes
5.Check the dhokla by poking a knife in it. if its not done fully, cook again for more 1-2 mins.
6.Cool it for 5 mins. Cut it into square piece.

7.heat a tadka pan ,add oil and mustard seeds .once seeds crackle
add chilies, curry leaves . after 1 minute remove pan and add 1 tbsp of water mixed with 1 tsp sugar ,lemon juice & salt each.
8.Pour this seasoning on dhokla plate.

9.Repeat the step no 3-8 for another plate.
10 garnish with coriander & coconut. Serve hot with green mint chutney and garlic chutney.

Tip:

2.You can use spinach and methi paste as a new variation of Dhokla.
