Tikhat shankarpali - tukdi -namakpare | spicy shankarpale namkeen



Sweet shankarpali are made during diwali but you can even try these spicy (tikhat) shankarpale in this diwali festival .

Savoury crackers called as Shankarpali |Shankarpalya in Marathi , Tukdi in Konkani & namkpare in gujarati.Normally made during diwali festival but these can be made anytime round the year .

They serve as a good tea time snack or afternoon snack you can evn make them for your kids tiffin.these are crispy & so tasty that they get over in no time.
My aunt makes them during diwali.so here is the recipe.








Ingredients:
1  cup maida /all purpose flour
1 tsp ajwain /owa /carom seeds
1.5 tsp red chilli powder (you can adjust as per your spice level)
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp pepper powder
salt to taste
2 tsp ghee (clarified butter) /oil
milk /water to knead dough
Knife /karanji cutter
Oil to deep fry



Method:

1.Mix all above  ingredients  in a bowl and mix well. Heat 2 tsp ghee /oil  & add hot oil /ghee to the mixing bowl . Add milk /water to knead in the form of a dough. Keep aside for 10 mins






2. Make a medium sized ball (bigger than we make for phulka) & Roll the ball into a  slightly thick roti.














3.Using a Knife /karanji cutter cut the dough into small rectangles or diamond shape (rhombus) shankarpalis.













4.Heat oil in a kadhai. Once hot, put the dough rectangles slowly. Fry till golden brown

5.Remove on a kitchen towel to drain  the excess oil

6. Store in air tight container .
