Ingredients :
red pumpkin -lal bhopla / kaddu (grated 1 cup)
Wheat Flour - 1.25 cup
red chillipowder -1.5 tsp-2 tsp
turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
dhania jeera powder - 1.5 tsp
Salt - as per taste)
Carom seeds(owa /ajwain) - 1 tea spoon
sugar -1 tsp
1 tsp rava/semolina soaked in 2 tsp water
sesame seeds (til) -1 tsp (optional)
Oil - 1 table spoon hot oil (mohan)
Oil - to fry
Method:
1.Wash bhopla,take out the seeds from it, remove skin with a knife /peeler.cut into pieces.
2.lets boil pumpkin in either of the two ways as mentioned below
•Wash the pieces and put them into the cooker with 1 cup water. Pressure the cooker for upto 1 whistle. Or
• Take a pan and put the grated pumpkin into the it with 1 table spoon water. Boil it on a medium flame till the pumpkin becomes tender.
3.Add salt, carom seeds, red chillipowder ,dhane jeera powder ,sesame seeds ,1 table spoon hot oil and boiled smashed pumpkin . Mix all the ingredients well. add rava & wheat flour .Knead the mixture without water.
Boiled pumpkin is enough to knead the flour. You can add little water if required. Cover the dough and leave it for half hour
4.After 30 minutes apply some oil on your palms and knead the flour again to grease it. Now make small balls of the dough.
5.Heat oil in a pan. Meanwhile, take one dough ball and roll it out on a roller board to form a flat disc of 3-31/2 inch. Roll out all the balls in the same manner.
6 Now slide one poori in a kadhai and fry it till it gets brown in colour. Flip and turn the poori while frying it so it rises up. Fry the other pooris in the same manner and take them out on a plate.
7.Your delicious Pumpkin Poori is ready.
Serve the pooris with aloo matar ,jeera aloo,dahi chatka , chutney or pickle.
