Sprout MOONG salad is a very easy,colorful, refreshing and healthy dish. Moong is a good source of protein and calcium. This salad can also be served as a light lunch. A power packed protein-rich salad which is excellent for all age group

Note this salad can be eaten as MUNG SALAD or you can even convert it to a MOONG CHAT to give it a spicy tangy taste.
Ingredients (MUNG SALAD ) :
1 1/2 cups sprouted moong (whole green gram)
1 onion, chopped finely
2 tomatoes, chopped
1 tbsp chopped coriander (dhania)
1 chopped green chilli
2 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp sugar
1/4 cup chopped cucumber
1 tsp red chilli powder
2 tsp chat masala
1 tsp pepper powder ( optional)
salt to taste
Ingredients ( MOONG CHAT )
In addition to above ingredients use the below mentioned ingredients to convert your moong salad to chat.
1/2 cup yellow sev /shev
1 potato boiled & cut into cubes
2 tsp mint coriander chutney
2 tsp tamarind date chutney (imli khajur chutney)
Method (MOONG SALAD):
1.Cook the sprouts with salt and 1/4 cup of water in a saucepan as it comes to boil turn off the heat.
2.Cover the pan for about three to four minutes, drain any liquid. Alternately you can even steam the sprouted moong for 5 minutes.
3.Let the sprouts cool to room temperature
4.Add the onions, tomatoes, cucumber , sprouts.Add the red chilli powder,pepper powder,chat masala,sugar,lemon juice,chopped chilli,salt,mix well
5. Put to chill.
6.Serve cold.
Method (MOONG CHAT):
1.Cook the sprouts with salt and 1/4 cup of water in a saucepan as it comes to boil turn off the heat.
2.Cover the pan for about three to four minutes, drain any liquid. Alternately you can even steam the sprouted moong for 5 minutes.
3.Let the sprouts cool to room temperature .
4.Mix onions, tomatoes, cucumber and potatoes . Add the sprouts.Add the red chilli powder,pepper powder,chat masala,sugar,lemon juice,chopped chilli,,mint chutney ,tamarind date chutney, salt,mix well.
5. Lastly add yellow sev & garnish with coriander leaves.& Serve immediately
Variation :
Add chopped carrots /chopped simla mirchi ( green bell pepper), chopped cabbage to above salad
