After " how to roast peanuts in microwave" todays post is about making roasted cumin powder using microwave to roast cumin seeds.
Cumin seeds are known as Jeers in marathi & hindi.
I have posted " Home made cumin powder " using stove top earlier.
Always use "MICROWAVE MODE " for roasting cumin.Make powder in small batches & always store in air tight container to retain freshness.
After 2 minutes of roasting be careful in setting time in intervals of 1 minute or less as there are chances of Cumin seeds getting burnt
Ingredients:
Microwave
Jeera / Cumin seeds - 1 cup
Method:
1)Place cumin seeds in a microwave safe bowl or flat baking tray or cookie sheet .take a dish which has a bigger circumference so that jeera seeds are spread wide across the dish and will get roasted evenly
2.Now select microwave at HIGH microwave power and place the bowl inside microwave.
3.Microwave on HIGH power for 2 minutes initially.after 2 minutes remove dish & stir cumin seeds upside down with spoon
4.Microwave again for another 1 minute or less & remove dish .Now check the jeera would have got roasted to a brown colour.If you want to roast them more than repeat process for another minute or half a minute .
5.Remove from the oven let it cool & grind coriander seeds in a mixer to a fine powder.
6.Store in airtight container in fridge to retain freshness .
