Beetroot puri recipe | Pink beet poori recipe with aloo sabji


Vow doesnt that sound interesting....Ya it does taste yummy .These puris are soothing to the eyes & are healthy too.Even those who do not like beet, will find this poori attractive and tempting.

I had seen these red beet pooris in television channel  & tasted these few months before at my friends place but had never attempted it. .The idea of preparing  beet puris struck to me when I saw the beet root lying in my tupperware storage container since last 2 weeks .


Ingredients:

Beetroot /beet   -1 medium size - 1 cup
Wheat flour - 1  cup
Green chilies ginger garlic paste - 1
Red chilli powder - 1 tsp (optional)
Coriander- cumin powder - 1 tsp
sugar - pinch
Rava (semolina) - 1 tsp
Mohan ( hot oil ) - 1 tsp
Cumin seeds/sesame seeds/ajwain  -1 tsp (optional)
Salt - As per taste
Water- As needed
Oil  for frying



METHOD :

1. Wash, peel and grate the beetroot .

2. Grind beet root with green chilli  in mixie to form a smooth puree.Add water if required.

3. In a mixing bowl, add the wheat flour, rava ,hot oil ,sugar ,dry powders ,salt and ajwain seeds and mix well. Now add the beetroot puree and mix well to form a hard dough







     
 

4.Divide the dough in to equal size lime balls.




5. Roll the dough ball into a circle with little thickness.  Thin  poori will not puff up.



 
 
 
 

6. Deep fry the poori in hot oil till golden brown. (keep heat medium).

 
 
7. Serve with all time favorite punjabi style potato subji ,pickle ,chutney or raita or simply dahi.
