Hariyali chicken |spicy green gravy chicken | coriander mint chicken rassa |hara murgh



Hariyali chicken is Chicken prepared in coriander and mint leaves. I got this recipe from my mausis diary .I still have the xeroxed version of her diary in which I found this amazing recipe .So without wasting much time I tried this last sunday.



The chicken in this recipe is flavoured with coriander, mint ginger and garlic. It is prepared with minimal ingredients that are readily available at home and yet tastes awesome.

hariyali or hara means green  & murgh means chickenThe main ingredients which impart curry look green are the coriander,mint leaves, palak leaves and green chillies. I’m sure you will find this dish very tasty accompanied with rotis or ric

Ingredients :

250 gms boneless chicken :
1 medium onions
2-3 tomatoes
1-2 tsp garam masala
1  pinch turmeric
1 pinch hing (asafoetida)
1 capsicum cut into juliennes
1 tsp dalchini powder
2 tbsp ghee +1 tbsp butter
1 tsp ginger garlic paste

To grind in mixer
1 cup coriander leaves (kothmir)
1 cup pudina (mint) leaves
1 onion
1/2 cup palak (optional)
10-15 green chillies { as per taste}
10-12 garlic ( lasun)
1 inch ginger(ala)

 


method:
1.cut boneless chicken into small pieces (1 inch) & marinate  with ginger garlic paste .

 

2 . saute one onion in 1 tbsp oil & grind all ingredients under to grind in mixer.puree tomatoes in mixer (or else you can puree 2 tomatoes & chop one tomato)
 

3.heat ghee , butter  in kadhai & add bayleaf & dalchini ,hing .next add remaining chopped onion,1 tsp ginger garlic paste & saute till it turns pink .after that add green  paste prepared  in step 2 * mix well.next saute tomato puree & saute it for another 2 minutes till oil starts to separate.

4.now add marinated chicken & saute on high flame for 2-3   minutes .Next add about  3/4 cup water ( just above the chicken level ) & salt & cover with lid & cook for about 20-25 minutes or till chicken is cooked .Keep checking in between if water gets absorbed, add about half cup water till chicken is cooked .

5. Lastly add  capsicum cubes & dalchini powder & cook for 2 minutes .

6.Garnish with coriander leaves & serve hot with chapati & rice.
