Red grapes cabbage lettuce cool salad


Adapted this recipe from tarla dalal site with few changes .A perfect salad for lunch or dinner during hot summers
Carefully chosen ingredients like red grapes, cucumber and cabbage ,lettuce make this salad a really "cool" one.

What makes this salad really special is the tangy and pungent dressing. Cabbage and grape is a rare combo but this salad is just the right recipe if you are having a special meal with guests. Serve this fresh and chilled and watch your guests savour every bite. 







 Ingredients

For the basil dressing
1 tbsp saffola oil
1 tbsp lemon juice
1/2 tsp finely grated lemon rind
1 tbsp chopped basil
 a pinch of sugar
 a pinch of mustard (rai / sarson) powder
salt and black pepper (kalimirch) powder to taste

Other ingredients
1 cup shredded cabbage
1 tsp chopped celery ( i had used coriander leaves)
1 cup grapes, cut into halves
1/2 cup cucumber cubes
1 cup lettuce leafs torn

1 tomato chopped
salt to taste



Method

For the basil dressing
1.Combine all the ingredients together in a bowl till smooth. Refrigerate to chill.

For salad
1.Put the cabbage and lettuce  in ice-cold water for half an hour.
2.Drain, wrap in a muslin cloth and refrigerate till ready to serve.
3.Combine the grapes and cucumber in a bowl and refrigerate to chill.
4.To serve, add the cabbage and coriander leaves to the bowl containing grapes and cucumber.
5.Sprinkle salt over it, add the dressing and toss well.
6.Serve immediately.
