Carrot Raita |how to make gajar ka raita


Today's recipe is healthy carrot raita .Raita is a condiment made of curd or yogurt that is used as a sauce or dip in Asian countries like India, Bangladesh and Pakistan. 


 

It is mostly used a s side dish in an Indian dinner. Usually cucumber tomato and onion are mixed with curd & few spices for preparing Raita. It particularly goes well with Parathas, Biryanis and all types of Pulaos The main purpose of using Raita in meals is as a coolant for the hot and spicy dishes.

 
Ingredients:

Home made Yogurt (dahi) - 1 cup
 Carrot  Grated - 1 cup
sugar pinch
green chilli -1 chopped
coriander leaves - 1 tbsp
cumin powder+ pepper powder  - 1 tsp (optional)
 Salt to Taste

Tempering/tadka :

Mustard Seeds 1/4 tsp
Cumin Seeds 1/4 tsp
curry leaf - 6-8
Oil 1 tsp

method:

1. Mix grated carrot, green chilly,sugar , yogurt,cumin powder+ pepper powder and salt to taste.



 


2. Heat oil in a pan, splutter mustard seeds followed by curry leaves. Pour this over carrot-yogurt mixture and mix well. 


 

3.garnish with coriander leaves & carrot flowers.
