Sabudana chakali|Upwas Sago batata farali Chakli-murukku


Chakali ( Muruku) is a crispy and yummy salted snacks made during the Diwali festival along with other sweets. Todays post is about sabudana chakali which can be eaten during fasting days like navratri/ekadashi or can even be enjoyed as a crisp munchy evening snack .for making chaakli you need a special machine called as  murukku press /chakali press /chaklai cha sorya / Sev Maker as shown in below picture .use  star nozzle to make the chakalis






Ingredients
 

Sabudana /sago/tapioca -1 cup
Boiled- Grated Potato-3
Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
 Jeera (Cumin seeds )- 2 tsp
 Salt- to taste


 Method
 1.Soak sabudana in water for 8-10 hours / overnight / minimum 4 hours .Pls click here to  find out how to soak sago.

2.Add grated mashed  potato,red chilli powder, cumin seed salt , with soaked sago & mix it well to form a dough.



 

3.Use the murukku press /chakali press /chakli cha sorya / Sev Maker with star nozzle to make the chakalis











4.Now put the dough in murukku press and squeeze out chakalis over a plate or plastic sheet in circular shape. Dont make too big chaklis  as these expand in size when fried in oil.

If you feel that chakalis are not coming out well .apply litte water to your palms remove dough mix it well & the again  put the dough in murukku press and squeeze out chakalis over a plate or plastic sheet.










5 Place sheet in direct sunlight & Allow to dry in direct sunlight  for 3-4 days till dry and crispy. remember they should be completely dry.



7.Store in airtight container in dry place.

8.Deep fry in oil  & enjoy these crispy & tasty sabudana chakalis.
