Dahi Batata Sev Puri Recipe | dahi sev poori chaat


A favorite chaat food and popular Maharashtrian street food recipe, dahi Sev batata puri is sure to tingle your taste buds and pamper your spicy palate. It is very simple to make and this dish literally means a small puri filled with mashed potato, spicy curd and sprinkled with sev.The fried papris are topped with boiled potatoes(batata), chopped onion, chillies and topped with sev and a delectable blend of sweet and spicy chutneys& yoghurt /dahi . Recreate the chaat magic at home with this easy sev puri recipe.

Some of the most popular chaats are the Bhel puri, Sev puri, Paani puri, Dahi sev batata puri, papdi chaat, dahi puri and not to forget the Pav bhajji (a bread or bun served with cooked mashed vegetables in a tangy tomato sauce).

Dahi Sev Batata Puri is traditionally served in a wide plate placing the puri (small puris used for paani puri) slightly crushed on the top. Each puri is filled with mashed boiled potato, followed by finely chopped onions and tomatoes. They are then spooned with some well beaten fresh salted yoghurt followed by yummy green chutney and sweet chutney. Over that sprinkled with some chaat masala and pinch of red chili powder. Finally it is finished off with some sev and garnished with fresh coriander leaves. Generally about 6 to 8 dahi sev batata puris are served in one single plate. The thought of the chaat itself makes your mouth waters and tempting.
Here is a step by step method of making Dahi Sev Batata Puri with pictures



Ingredients

20-25  pooris (pani poori puris)
2 medium size boiled and peeled potatoes
1 onion
1 tomato
1 green chili
chopped coriander leaves  (kothimbir)
1 cup curd
1/2 cup sweet tamarind date chaat chutney
1/2 cup mint coriander chutney
1/2 cup red lahsun chat chutney
1 cup sev
red chili powder
chaat masala
roasted cumin seed powder
 salt











Method:

1.Chop the boiled and peeled potatoes. sprinkle little salt.

2.Chop the onions, tomatoes, green chilli and coriander leaves finely.
3.Take around 20-25 pooris & place them in a dish  as per the quantity of   puris to be served in each plate.



4.Prepare green mint coriander chutney,garlic red chilli chutney ,sweet tamarind jaggery dates chutney.











 5. Break the puris from the center with your thumb to create a hollow gap for the stuffing
 6.Stuff the chopped potatoes in the pooris. 



7.Place  the chopped onions, tomatoes and green chilies on top of the potatoes in the puris.


 8. sprinkle some chaat masala, jeera powder, red chili powder on the puris.

 9.Top the stuffed puris up with the green chutney, sweet chutney& red chutney.Drizzle some yoghurt over each of the puri (1/2 tsp per puri) curd. adjust the  chutneys as per your liking and taste.







 10.Now again sprinkle  chaat masala, jeera powder, red chili powder . 













 11.Add the shev on top about 1 tsp for each poori  in a way that each poori gets covered with sev. Finally garnish with chopped coriander leaves.







 12.Serve Dahi Sev Batata Puri immediately or else  the puris become soggy.
