Boondi raita

Boondi Raita-One of the most popular raitas in Northern parts of India.

Raita not only makes the food interesting, but is also good for digestion. Boondi Raita  is one of the most easiest and straight raita recipe.

boondi are tiny fried gram flour balls. they are very easy to make at home or otherwise they are available in most grocery or sweets shops. they are salted and crisp.
You can use home made curd for making this delicious raita

Lets start our preparation to make Boondi Raita.

Ingredients

Curd - 1 cup
Besan Boondi - 1/2 cup
Roasted Cumin seeds - 1/2 tea spoon (powdered)
Chat masala -1/2 tsp
Black salt/sendha namak - 1/4 tsp
Green chilli - 1 (chopped) or red chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
Coriander powder -1/4 tsp
sugar -pinch
Salt - 1/4 tea spoon.

Garnish

Coriander /mint leaves

Red chilli powder

Method

1.Lightly beat curd using spoon or wire whisk until smooth

2.Add all the dry spice powders and salt.

3.Now add boondi and mix well

4.Mix coriander leaves

5.Garnish cold boondi raita with mint/corinader leaves and a dash of red chilli powder

Tips

If you like soft boondi in bundi raita, then add it 15-20 minutes before serving, otherwise add it just before the serving to keep it crispy.
Few people add crips boondi to water for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes drain water squeeze water lightly from boondi & then add it to curd spice mixture . (Personally I add boondi directly to curd spice mixture just before serving as I like crunchy boondi raita

Serve it as an accompaniment with meal in lunch or dinner. It enhances taste and palatability of vegetable pulav.
