Chana dal sundal | Kadala Paruppu Sundal |easy navratri sundal recipe



Navratri  is round the corner hence posting chana dal sundal recipe which is also known as  Kadala Paruppu Sundal.

This Kadala Paruppu Sundal is one such easy and tasty sundal with very simple preparation
Sundal is a healthy snack prepared from different kind of lentils or legume which is boiled and seasoned with Indian spices



Channa dal is a good source of protein, low in fat and also good for diabetics.
In south sundal is made during navratri and offered as a prasad or neivadyam to god.different types of sundal are made  for 9 days

I pressure cooked the soaked chana dal  but you can also boil it on stove top or  microwave on high for 15 minutes. in case of pressure cooker cook it for 1 whistle so that dal does not become mushy.Dal should be separate but fully cooked.









 

Ingredients: 

1 cup Kadalai paruppu/channa dal soaked in water for minimum 30 minutes
1 tbsp Grated Coconut
Salt as needed
Tadka /tempering :
1/2 tsp Mustard Seeds

2 dry red chillies +2 green chillies chopped
1 tsp Urad dal
1 tsp Oil
A pinch Hing
A sprig curry leaves





Method

1.Soak the chana dal  for30 mins .now pressure  cook it for 1 whistle so that dal does not become mushy.drain water from dal and let it cool

2.Heat the oil and temper the hing,mustard seeds,urad dal and curry leaves.Add in dry red chillies,green chilli and fry well till urad dal is golden brown    

3Now add in the boiled chana dal and salt ,mix well with tempering.

4 Lastly add in the grated coconut and mix well. Kadala paruppu sundal is now ready to serve.
  


Tips
 1. can add chopped coriander,fried cashewnuts and lemon juice to above sundal
