Idli manchurian recipe | indo chinese leftover idli recipe| chilli idly


Idli Manchurian Recipe is a delectable ,tempting ,tasty Indo Chinese recipe.



It is made in a similar way as how you'd go about making a Gobi/Baby Corn Manchurian.

Ingredients
 5-6 leftover idlis
 1 small capsicum/green bell pepper – chopped or thinly sliced
 3 spring onion/scallion whites chopped
1-2 green chilli, finely chopped
1 inch ginger, finely chopped
10-12 garlic, finely chopped
 2 tsp soy sauce
1 tsp sugar
 1 or 1.5 tbsp tomato sauce
 1 tsp apple cider or white vinegar
 salt & black pepper as required
 oil for frying – about 4-5 tbsp oil
spring onions/scallion greens for garnishing
 1.5 cups  water

corn flour paste:
 2 tbsp corn flour
 ½ cup water

Idli marinade:
 2 tbsp corn flour+1 tbsp rice flour
3/4 tsp  ginger-garlic paste
 salt and pepper as required


 


Method:
 1.cut idlis into 1 inch pieces .Mix all the ingredients for the idli marinade.Add marinade  to idli pieces  & mix well so that idlis are coated well with marinade






2Shallow or deep fry the paneer cubes in hot oil.Drain on paper napkins and keep aside.Make the corn flour paste with water.
 










3.use same oil left from frying idlis ,heat oil from the wok or kadai.

4.When the oil becomes hot add the Add the ginger, garlic, green chili,next Stir fry the onions on medium to high heat taking care that they do burn.Stir for some seconds or a minute.






5. add the capsicum and Stir fry the capsicum also for 2 mins.

6. Now add all the sauces, water,vinegar, pepper and salt..Add the corn flour paste and let the sauce thicken.
 
7.Stir and simmer.

8 Now add the fried idli pieces.Stir and simmer for a minute.

9.Garnish IDLI Manchurian with spring onion green and Serve hot with veg fried rice, asian veg rice or veg noodles.




Tips
 

To make dry idli  manchurian recipe do not add any water .Just add the sauces, salt, pepper, sugar and vinegar. Stir well. Add the fried idli  pieces and saute well

can add 1/4 tsp each of kashmiri chilli powder and /or chilli sauce to give a kick to above manchurian

be careful in adding salt as sauces already contains salt

The cornflour is added to thicken to the gravy. If the gravy becomes too thick, then you can thin it by adding little water.
