Palak dal - andhra style



Today posting recipe of andhra style palak dal which I learnt from my friend.Since then this is one of the regular menus in our kitchen.


A Good way of including iron folic acid rich spinach in your meal.


Ingredients:


1 bunch palak ( spinach leaves )
1 cup toovar dal ( pigeon peas )
2 tomatoes
4-5 slit green chillies
1 onion sliced
3-4 chopped garlic
1 tsp red chilli powder
1 tsp turmeric
1 tsp jeera
1 tsp rai ( mustard seeds)
1 tbsp tamarind paste
8-12 curry leaves
2 whole red chillies
1 tbsp oil

Method :


 
1. wash spinach leaves & chop palak leaves  coarsely.

2. wash dal ,add palak leaves , green chillies, turmeric ,red chilli powder     tamarind paste , chopped tomatoes , chopped onion , water salt .pressure cook dal for 8-9 whistles till dal becomes soft .

 


3. Next heat 1 tbsp oil , add jeera ,rai ,chopped lasun to golden brown,
  Add 4 whole red chillies ,kadipatta  fry for 2 minutes & add tadka on top.Your tasty palak dal is ready to serve with rice, lemon pickle
