Garlic Chutney |spicy Poondu Chutney Recipe | Side dish for Idli Dosa


Mostly weekends are reserved for different types of dosas and idlis so keep on tring different side dishes for idli or dosa

Garlic Chutney(Poondu Chutney) is very handy when you dont have tomato or coconut in stock

Garlic is packed with antioxidants and is very good for our health. Garlic has antibacterial and anti fungal properties. It help to lower cholesterol. 
Garlic thins the blood which can help in preventing heart diseases and stokes

Ingredients
Garlic - 10 cloves
Red Chillies - 4
Small Onion (shallots) - 5 or 1 medium onion
Tamarind - 1 tsp ( i had used amla /awla instead )
1 tsp urad dal
1 tsp chana dal
4-5 Curry leaves
1 tsp jaggery (optional)
Salt - to taste

To temper:
Oil - 1/2 tbsp
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves - 1 small sprig
hing - pinch














Method:

1.In 1 tbsp oil saute together both dals till golden brown,keep aside ,than saute cury leaf garlic,small onion,red chillies and tamarind till raw smell goes away take care not to burn them

2.now grind all of them in mixer add little water if required

3.Heat 1 tsp oil in a kadai/pan - add the ingredients listed under 'to temper' let it splutter.than pour tempering on top of chutney mix well and serve with dosa /idlis
