Eggless Chocolate sponge Cake in pressure cooker


Don't have an oven or microwave at home ????????????  Does this stop you from baking cake at home for you dear ones .

The answer is NO    ............

Now you don't have to wait anymore as you can make moist, soft, fluffy, spongy cake at home that too with out oven. You  can bake up cake just like oven in a Pressure Cooker!









I tried this  for those people dont own a microwave or oven & still wanted to make cake  at home .My husbands verdict was it tasted just like ready made  bakery cake.

Pls proceed to your kitchen & impress  your family with these addictive Eggless Chocolate sponge cake ! 

 Moreover  it is vegetarian since it doesnt use eggs .The taste is no lesser than a brownie and can be served as such or with a chocolate icing

Ingredients

 Dry Ingredients:

 All purpose flour - 1 and 1/2 cups
 Cocoa powder - 3 tbsp
 Baking soda - 1 tsp
 Baking powder - 1/8 tsp
 Salt - 1/4 tsp
 Granulated Sugar - 1 cup
 walnut /cashew pieces- 2 tbsp

Wet Ingredients

Water - 1 cup (250 ml)
Vanilla essence - 1/2 tbsp
 Lemon juice / White Vinegar - 1 tbsp (I used lemon juice)
Oil - 1/4 cup (60 ml)


 


Method:

 1.Mix together wet ingredient like Oil, Sugar, water and vanilla essence in mixing bowl.Stir  well until sugar is dissolved.Keep aside.




2.Sift all dry ingredients maida, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda together twice atleast to make sure the flour, soda and baking powder and coco powder is evenly spread out.




3.Mix dry ingredients well with wet ingredients. Add few walnut pieces .



4.Place sand /salt at base of cooker .Preheat pressure cooker over medium heat for 5 mts.











5. Grease cake tin ( u can even use the tin we use for cooking rice)  well using  with oil / butter .sprinkle maida tap it so that it spreads on all sides.Pour the batter into the cake pan





6. First put one empty pot in a pressure cooker and on the top of empty pot put cake tin.Make sure that cake tin doesn't touch the bottom of the cooker.



7. Remove cooker gasket (ring) & Cover with the lid without putting whistle on.



8. Bake on medium heat for first 5 mts.

9. Lower down the heat to low to medium and cook for 30 to 35 mts. leave the cake in hot cooker for 5 more minutes.

10.next  insert a tooth pick in the middle of the cake, if it comes out clear that means cake is done.

11.If some batter sticks to the toothpick then continue to bake cake for 10 more minutes.

12.Allow the cake to cool down for 10 minutes.Run the knife around the edges of cake tin.
13  Place  one dish on the top of cake tin and flip this over.



14The cake should come out without sticking to the bottom of cake tin.

15.Allow it to cool down on cooling rack before putting icing on cake.Garnish it with cashew pieces or icing.


16.Serve just as it is or with dollop of cream or ice cream!

 

Tips

 •use preferably an old cooker while making cake
 •Cooking time may vary depending on thickness of pressure cooker, temperature settings of stove.


Use bigger cooker  tin for making cake or u can even use aluminium tin
